Description

Exquisite Georgian Satinwood Cutlery Box inlaid with oval fan inlay with a stained green sycamore back ground. Cross-banded with Boxwood and Kingwood inlays which frame the top of the box.

What makes this exquisite piece stand out from other cutlery boxes, are its fluted cants with another oval tulipwood medallion on the lid of the cant. Also has a silver plated finger plate for lifting the lid & surrounding the key is a Bone escutcheon.

The inside of the lid is decorated with a Ebony & Boxwood star which is framed with a decorative chequered stringing. Although normally referred to as "Knife Box" the beautifully shaped lid opens to reveal the cutlery decks in which there are apertures to fit almost any kind of culinary knives, forks, and spoons This type of “Knife Box” is typical of the accessories previously used in a Stately House. In the past knife boxes were displayed on a sideboard to reflect the wealth of the owners and would made an elegant accessory to any setting today.

This charming satin wood knife box comes complete with fully working lock and tasselled key.
