Description

Truly unique Folk Art Tea Cady which has been painted in a very similar style as the inlaid Tunbridge Ware. The painted Tea Caddy is very typical of the painted house Tea Caddies and Work Boxes of the late 18th and early 19th century. It appears to be made of solid sycamore which has been given a coat of gesso before painting with diamonds, triangles & squares painted to give it a three dimensional look, the untouched patination is wonderful.

The interior has two painted lids with bone handles with the lid of the caddy lined in a plum leather type paper. The tea caddy retains most of its original lead lining and comes with a fully working lock & replacement key.
