Large Anglo Indian Vizagapatam Ivory, Horn & Porcupine Quill work Box

Very eye-catching sewing box from Vizagapatam in India. Has engraved lac filled borders which frame the porcupine quills, and has a starburst radiating top of Ivory & buffalo Horn with a carved Ivory finial. This anglo-indian work box is made from solid sandalwood & stands on four turned horn feet.

The interior of the sewing box is faced in horn, has a removable tray wich is constructed of a dove-tailed sandalwood, with engaved ivory trim and consists of three lids, two pin cushions. 

Vizagapatam sewing box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.
